Official New Moon cast announced!!

woohoo! lol I'm sorry, I'm just excited. okay I'm getting to the point. Summit Entertainment have just issued a press release on the update of New Moon, announcing who will play the most coveted roles in the movie. Well the roles we've been dying to find out about anyway!

They had this to say:

New cast members include the legendary Volturi, a venerable coven of vampires
who weigh and impose the laws of the vampire world, as well as two new members
of the Quileute Indian Nation. The Volturi include Charlie Bewley as Demetri,
Jamie Campbell Bower as Caius, Daniel Cudmore as Felix, Christopher Heyerdahl as
Marcus, all Volturi enforcers. Dakota Fanning plays Jane, a high ranking and
powerful Volturi member and Cameron Bright is Alec, her brother. Noot Seer plays
Volturi member Heidi. Michael Sheen plays Aro, the Volturi leader. Graham Greene
appears as Harry Clearwater, Quileute tribal leader and old friend of Bella's
father Charlie. Tinsel Korey is Emily, the fiancé of Sam Uley.

In NEW
MOON, Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) is devastated by the abrupt departure of her
vampire love Edward (Robert Pattinson) but her spirit is rekindled by her
growing friendship with the irresistible Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner). Suddenly
she finds herself drawn into the world of the werewolves, ancestral enemies of
the vampires, and she finds her loyalties tested.

Jamie Campbell Bower
was last seen in Tim Burton's "Sweeney Todd" and is the lead singer of the band
The Darling Buds. Daniel Cudmore played Colossus in the "X-Men" films, "X2" and
"X-Men: The Last Stand." Dakota Fanning was last seen in Summit Entertainment's
sci-fi thriller "Push" and provided the lead voice in the animated feature
"Coraline." Graham Greene earned an Academy Award nomination for his work in
"Dances With Wolves," and has appeared in such films as "The Green Mile," "Die
Hard: With A Vengeance" and "Transamerica." Chrisopher Heyerdahl has appeared in
such films as "The Chronicles of Riddick," "Catwoman" and "Blade: Trinity."
Tinsel Korey has worked on numerous films and television shows, from "Into The
West" to "The Lookout," opposite Joseph Gordon-Levitt. She is also a
singer/songwriter. Vancouver-born Noot Seer began modeling at age 13 and has
lived in New York, Barbados, Guyana and New Zealand. She was a champion
horseback rider prior to her modeling career. She made her film debut in the
comedy "Head Over Heels," starring Freddie Prinze, Jr. and Monica Potter.
Michael Sheen last starred opposite Frank Langella in Ron Howard's film
"Frost/Nixon," and played Britain's Prime Minister Tony Blair to Helen Mirren's
Queen Elizabeth in "The Queen." The award-winning actor was recently seen in
"Underworld: Rise of the Lycans."

Michael Sheen as Aro?

According to Daily Mail, Michael Sheen has been cast as Volturi leader Aro.

"Sheen, 40, who made his name with uncannily realistic portrayals of well-known figures in Oscar-winning films The Queen, Frost/Nixon and The Damned United, will get his biggest pay cheque yet, a reported £5million, to star in New Moon.

In New Moon, Sheen will play Aro, the leader of an Italian vampire clan called the Volturi.
Director Chris Weitz confirmed Sheen’s casting to The Mail on Sunday and said he had ‘aggressively’ pursued the actor.
‘Michael’s role is so important because he’s the head of all vampires,’ he said. ‘Aro is, on the surface, a very gracious and friendly vampire, but beneath that he is a tremendous threat.’"

What do you guys think? I'm not totally sure he's how I pictured Aro, we'll see when we finally see the transformation from Michael Sheen to fearsome Aro =p

as a little in joke me and a few of my Twilight obsessed friends have, we like to think as this guy playing Aro.

WARNING image may traumatise/ruin the way you've pictured Aro. Thanks Amber for the image lol.

Caius has been cast!

British actor Jamie Campbell-Bower has revealed he will play Volturi leader Caius in The Twilight Saga: New Moon.

The 20-year-old, who has appeared in RockNRolla and Sweeney Todd, told the BBC news website that taking part in the vampire series was "very exciting".

"You're the first people I've told" he said. "Shooting has already started, and I'm going over in June."

The film, due for release in November, is the second adaptation from author Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series.

The role of Caius is key to the plot of New Moon. He forms part of the triumvirate leading the Italian based coven of vampires called the Volturi.

The second book in the series sees the gang become a threat to lovers Bella and Edward.
I may be a newbie at this, but it does seem to me like they've up-played Caius' role above the rest of the Volturi. It's Aro that is more of the leader if ever there was one. The trio (Aro, Caius and Marcus) make up the Volturi leaders, but this report kind of makes it seem like Caius is the head honcho in Italy. I have to disagree. Aro is the most leader-ish one. I wanna know who's been cast as Aro!

Who should be cast as Alec?

Or maybe he's already been cast?! that would be a laughing point - while we're all busy pre-occupied with Dakota as Jane, Alec may have already been cast.

well, we don't have confirmation on that, but there's now some solid speculation!

New York Post have posted an article about which actors should play Alec...with their points on pros and cons.

and the nominees are....
Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy from Harry Potter)

Skandar Keynes (Edmund from Narnia)

Freddie Highmore (Charlie in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory)
Gaspard Ulliel (young Hannibal Lecter in Hannibal Rising)
Alex Pettyfer (Alex in Stormbreaker)

What do you guys reckon on this one? I think, for me anyway, out of these 5 contenders (unofficial) it should be either Alex Pettyfer - he could look like Dakota, or Freddie Highmore - doesn't look like Dakota but looks like he's deceptively evil! other than that it would be Tom Felton...but I'm not totally sure on Tom as Alec, he could do just as well as the others. Lets see him side by side with Dakota first....
